Weymouth Photography: Partners

This blog post is quite literally about two weeks overdue. It’s big news but sadly big news that has been surrounded by work chaos and lots of other things happening so I haven’t had chance to put anything up here about it until now. So the big news is the launch of a brand new company and website.

Weymouth Photography is now (and has been for a couple of weeks) open for business. We have decided to start to offering and advertising proper photographic services in the local area and are going to try and build this as a business over the next year or so. I’m still working full-time (and oh and don’t I feel it at the moment!) but am hoping to slowly build the business until maybe….one day…..it might become more than a part-time venture. I say ‘we’ because to make life slightly easier and also more interesting this isn’t a business I will be operating alone. (more…)

Well it happened, I turned 30 and no body parts fell off, what a result!! I’ve been flat out since my last post both at work and out of work. My birthday weekend turned out to be an awesome extravaganza of monkey fun. I was also joined (which was a surprise) by some very good friends from up and down the land. Special thanks to those peeps for being generally awesome and really making me feel special. It was a great start to the year ahead.

Since then I’ve either been in the office, sleeping or busier than a box of frogs getting prepared for a new photography venture and I’m hopefully going to be at a point later this week to do a big reveal like changing rooms or something (but without Carol Smiley or Laurence whats-his-face).

The other big news (and the reason for this post) is that over the last few weeks I’ve won two photography competitions!! (yes not one but TWO). Both competitions were set by Lowepro UK (the awesome photo bag people) and promoted on their twitter account. Submissions were taken and displayed on a flickr group run by the same peeps. For the first competition I had to take a picture with the theme ‘invention’ and I broke out the tin foil and designed and built an extremely nerdy time machine thingy-me-bob. I actually really quite like the shot as it speaks to my inner mad professor. The peeps at Lowepro must of also liked it as I won the competition and received a signed copy of a book and a haul of assorted Lowepro goodies. I couldn’t believe my luck! I very rarely enter competitions and usually because I lack the confidence in my own abilities so it came as quite a shock to win something. I was not the only winner but that’s even better as the other winners shots were awesome so it’s an honour to be considered on a parr. (more…)
