2 of 100 Strangers (Dave)

ok ok It’s been a long time coming but finally I’m pleased to share with you photo 2 in my series of 100 strangers! woohooo. I’ll try not to leave such a big gap between this and my next stranger but it all depends on what else I’m busy with and lately thats lots!!

I still find this whole talking to strangers thing hard but I am gaining confidence slowly. Todays stranger was completely unplanned and as usual I stumbled over my words and must of come across as a total nob but hey I got there in the end.

This is Dave….

Dave works in the passion and pain emporium in Weymouth who stock a range of cool clothing and also operate a tattoo studio.

Chloe had popped in to get a bar to put in one of her ear piercings and Dave (above) was busily sketching out some designs behind the counter. I always find people sketching and drawing fascinating, so he grabbed my attention. I managed to start off a short conversation and before I knew what had stumbled out of my mouth I was pointing my camera at him trying to get a half decent shot. I only shot about 3 or 4 frames but managed to faff about and get my flash out of my bag and on camera to get this frame above. Not perfect but I’m quite happy with it, I’m more happy with the fact I have got one more shot toward my 100 and that I plucked up the courage and even passed on a business card so Dave may even find this photo! (if he does I hope he likes it).

practice will make perfect.

Easter Sunday: Swanage

Went out with the family today to Swanage with my camera in tow and for the first time in what feels like a long time I took some photos that I quite liked! This bodes well as I’m heading out tonight to do some night shooting with my good friend Darren. Hopefully my positive streak will continue….until then though here is 14 of my faves from swanage.

Transform

I stumbled across this video today over at digital photography school via gtvone on twitter. Its by Zarias and was created for a guest spot on the Scott Kelby website. It takes a little while to play out but its an awesome video and lots of it rings bells in my head.

Monday

Got to love Mondays right? ok well actually NO!! mine could have been better. I had a fairly good weekend which was finished off with a really nice chilled out day in London on Sunday……but all the good times caught up with me this morning- I felt really really tired at work and the day dragged by. I had to indulge in a lunchtime latte just to get through the day!! (yes I realise how lame that sounds)

I came across this video while surfing randomly tonight….It’s pretty darn cool and has given me an idea for a shoot, will require some thought and planning though….#stu runs for notepad and pen#

I was chatting to Daz today about resuming tuesday night photo walks now the clocks have changed in our favour! I can’t wait…..I need to go out and get some proper shooting under my belt soon before I go slightly mad (more mad than usual). Finding the time or energy to shoot recently has been difficult and it’s a rut I need to get out of quickly. I’m hoping the improved weather and a regular weekly outing will help that process along nicely.

Hello World

So oddly I printed some business cards the other week in the hope of using them to get some photography work….They arrived and looked pretty good, so good in fact I decided to change my website to match the kind of branded look I’d gone for….that also meant taking down my blog…..now its back!!

….well almost! still got lots to do but it’s getting there!
